Ravenous Pigeon Digest

Yaayyy....A week's holiday. I haven't had more than two days off in a row since I got here (and have only had two days off in the past couple of weeks). I guess I'll have to go and do some actual touristy stuff, like visit Kyoto (in the daytime) and Nara. Golden Week couldn't have come any sooner having had my first kid cry on me on Tuesday in class. Its not a good feeling.

Japanese class is going slowly but steadily - its suprisingly intensive to pay attention for two hours when your the only student in the room. God knows how long its going to take to get to any sort of conversational level though. And at this point I should probably forget about trying to undetstand Kanji.

On a stranger note, I saw the Japanese TV presenter in Lost in Translation on TV the other night. The program wasn't quite as weird as in the film (it was some sort of cookery thing) but still bizarre.

I've also finally got some photos developed which means, once I get up off my arse and down to Kinko's I'll be able to put up a couple of pics of Japan. Speaking of photos, I'm also trying to persuade myself to finally go and get a digital camera. I've been thinking of getting the Canon Ixy 450. I would splurge out and get the 5mb pixel one except that the frame rate of its movie mode seems to have dropped inexplicably from 15fps to 10fps, which just sounds too jerky to me. Anybody who's any advice on these matters be sure to drop a comment...
