Ravenous Pigeon Digest

16.6.04

Ok, been slightly...remiss...in updating this thing. As it is right now, I can't remember what I've been doing with myself the past few weeks.

The teaching lark has become something of a routine at this stage...sometimes the kids are devils and sometimes their angels. Sometimes the adults are really interesting and sometimes they fall asleep during class..Right now I'm pretty sure I don't want to be doing the same thing next year

Yesterday I was asked to draw a small poster about Ireland and say a couple of things about the place and what it was famous for. That my boss thought you could drive from London to Dublin shows how little Ireland registers as a place over here. I regret to say I couldn't think of anything more significant to draw than a Guinness pint and a shamrock. Hooray for stereotypes...

But my weeks pretty much consist of getting up...going to work...going home OR getting up early...going to Japanese class...going to work...going home...OR if its a Monday..trying to think of something constructive to do...doing laundry instead...going to Japanese class..

I did finally get up off my arse to develop some pictures from the mobile and regular camera. The regular ones can be found here and are mostly shots of Kobe and near the apartment. The mobile ones have a few pics from Ushimado and Okayama and they can be found here. I make no claim about their quality only that they give some idea as to what this place is like.

I'm actually pretty impressed with the photos from my phone. Initially when I mailed them, the pictures were really small. But when I uploaded them directly from the memory card they turned out pretty big..yaay.

Saw my second flick in four months a couple of weeks ago - The Day After Tomorrow - New York getting flooded and frozen was easily the highlight of an otherwise pretty average distaster flick. Pointless characters and CGI wolves aside, the most annoying thing was not seeing any other countries get wiped which is the most interesting part of these kind of flicks.

Had intented to go to China or something for Obon holidays (in August) but after checking prices at loads of travel agents it seems most flights around that time are prohibitively expensive - along the lines of 80000yen. Thats just too feckin much for a week in Hong Kong or Beijing.

Its supposedly rainy season right now but other than a couple of rainy days theres been nothing of consistent monsoon conditions I've been expecting/hoping for. And I seem to have missed out on a couple of mini earthquakes too, not that I'm too disappointed.

Must get new Beastie Boys CD - Ch..Check it Out video is the business...
