So I'm back in Ireland almost a full week now. And I'm definitly feeling a bit of shock. Everybody's taller, shouts into their phone on the train, and doesn't bow. Its still really cold, the streets are filthy, the trains don't work, and there's grass everywhere (that last bit is good though). In the past year I'd got used to not understanding the conversation of strangers when I sat in public places. Now that I'm back I can here how annoying everyone is.
I had two really cool days in Hong Kong on the way home..the site of hugh apartment blocks everywhere hugging the sides of the mountains was just jaw dropping, not to mention the neon market maddness of Kowloon. I'd love to go back there and stay much longer. But compared to Hong Kong and Japan, Ireland is just a flat, empty green field. Everything feels spread out and low to the ground; even the city centre feels like a suburb in comparision to Kobe and Osaka.
So I'm feeling kind of down right now. I've said goodbye to a lot of great people, I won't see Keiko until the end of the year, I've no job, its cold, and I've got my brothers wedding in two weeks.
But theres a little hope. I went into the city centre to walk around and I found a Muji!
