Feckin' students and their parties!..con sarnit, I can't get no sleep around here.
So Keiko came last week for her holiday and we did he whole touristy thing which even I'd never done having lived here most of my life. I think she enjoyed it, despite the litter, scumbags, rude retail staff, crap public transport, and weather. But it was too short, and I'm itching to go back and visit Japan again. I was glad to see this blog was back up after a long hiatus. Whats even better is this hilarious blog linked off it which is the funniest account I've seen of life in Osaka. As an example, this house just beggars belief:
Also last week the flat mate finally caved and got a phone line installed in the new apartment. Up until now we'd wanted broadband, but didn't want to get a phone line installed just for that reason - the line rental costing 35euro every month which we wouldn't use (having mobiles and all). But the wankers in the cable company haven't rolled out broadband to out area, despite the building being brand new. And we can't install any radio receive cos we're not allowed to add any external features to the apartment. So we had to feckin resort to calling Eircom (the beloved Irish telecom company that virtually has a monoply on all land lines). So now I'm suckered into paying 35euro a month for a phone line when we don't even have any feckin phone! This is why Ireland lies pretty much in last place for this stuff. The idea is to switch to Smart Telecom, who supposedly pay the line rental for you as part of the broadband deal, but I just know thats going to take aaaaaggggesssssssss, if at all.
By the way, I'm pretty sure the counter is corrupted. I mean, even I've look at this thing more than 20 times.
