I was awoken at 8am by the cleaners the next morning which gave me plenty of time to grab the usual breakfast of noodles and coffee before tuk-tuk man came back to collect me at 9am. This time we kind of went in reverse and after getting another ticket for the day, went to those last few places I'd seen at the end of the day before when they were really jammers.
Back to tree-growing-through-wall Ta Prohm first. While it wasn't as busy, it was still busy. I had to wait ages and ages but my patience paid off and eventually i was able to sit and take a few photos undisturbed. Went to another big place (Bang somewhere I think) where I hadn't seen the previous day, and tried my best to take it nice and slow but it was just to damn hot to linger anywhere for very long. Stopped for a drink next to a lake after I was pestered for ages and ages by a cheeky young wan who rhymed off all the countries and their capitals until she found one that matched mine. I would have been more impressed but all the kids seem to have learned them off.
At the next temple I tried to take it slow, letting all the beach tanned westerners pass me by and once I got to the stage where I was feeling all templed-out I had one last visit to Ankor Wat hoping to catch some very late lunch. Unfortuantly all I could find were souvenir stalls and a gang of monkies taunting a dog.
Went back to town then with my belly firmly grumbling and grabbed some cheap food in one of the many bars on, you guessed it, Bar Street. Got to talking to a moto-man standing at the corner who happened to have a Dublin GAA t-shirt on. He turned out to know about as much Irish as I do and we traded a few phrases native phrases. Where was he two days ago! After sorting out my accomodation for Saigon I gave in to instincts and sat out on the veranda of Molly Malones bar (of course there was one) and watched the world go by. Stupidly ordered a hamburger and it was manky. Across the road people were happily sucking down noodles at a big hawker place. Even though their electricity seemed to cut out every minute the place seemed much more fun.
