Ravenous Pigeon Digest

I had the chance this week to, yet again, take the test for my learners driving license. Seeing as I left Ireland about two weeks before I was due to sit my full test (and thus finally get my full licesne), I've had to start off at the bottom of the driving ladder again in Sydney.

I went to take the 'Driver Knowledge Test' (feel free to practice here) at the local testing centre on Monday, consisting of a list of multi-choice questions on a touch screen computer. I'd barely thought of preparing for it, but when I saw the suit guy in front of me failing and storming out, I got a little concerned. However, despite getting a few questions wrong (who knew they sell off your car if you go drag racing?) I managed to scrape buy with a pass. Though the test looks almost identical to the one I did in Dublin (this one also looks like it was made by a first year university student) I was glad to see there were no questions on tractors this time.

Along with getting the license (finally I have some picture ID to carry around with me instead of bringing my passport all the time!) I was given a set of L Plates and a log book that has to be filled with 120 hours worth of driving with a fully licensed driver in the car (I don't have one of those either) before I can even attempt to do the driving test. Guess I still won't be driving anywhere soon!
