Saturday night at 8.30pm this year's "Earth Hour" was held in Sydney. I took the train in thinking I might be able to get some fancy photos of the whole place in darkness from the Harbour Bridge. Or at least see everything turn off in sync. It didn't quite turn out that way; everybody must have been using different clocks.
Seeing as Sydney was where things started a couple of years ago, I thought the whole city would get into the spirit of things. But actually, apart from the landmark buildings in the city centre (still can't quite bring myself to say "CBD"), the rest of the city remained undisturbed.
And I'm really itching for a new camera at this stage - no matter how good photos look in the tiny screen on the back of the camera, the full sized versions are always a let down, especially when trying to take a photo at night. I've obviously got the steady hands of a old-age pensioner judging from all the blur.
For a better alternative, look no further than The Big Picture, which does a slightly more decent, some would say professional, job of things.
