Money Home

Yet another typhoon yesterday. This time with much more rain than before. I was stuck in school in Sannomiya hoping they`d close the trains and, thus, have to close the schools. No such luck unfortunatly... On my day off on Monday I tried to send some money home for the first time since I got here..and man, what pain in the arse. I went to the main post office in Kobe which is quite big. For most countries there`s a direct wire service that the Post Office do so I went up to one of the usually helpful staff at the door. After explaining that I wanted to send money to Ireland, and that Ireland was a country in Europe, and no, not Iceland..Ireland, not part of the UK, yeah thats it, she went to look up the proceduce in her pamphlet only to find that Ireland wasn`t even listed. For fecks sake! So I had to go through some long process of changing my Yen to Euro and then posting it home. This took ages..partly because of all of the forms and partly because I only had the faintest idea what the staff where talking about. If I have to go through that every time I want to send money home there ain`t going to be much going home.
