Lights Off Again

Late yesterday afternoon, just in time for evening rush hour, the centre of Sydney experienced a large black-out, shutting down traffic lights, the Sydney Harbour tunnel and generally ground the area to a halt - lots of people left stranded in lifts and fuming in cars. Being stuck out in a suburban wasteland miles from the centre meant my office was, unfortunately, unaffected. The embarrassing (and nicely ironic) thing is that the "Emergency Loudspeaker System", designed to broadcast in emergencies, may also have failed to work because the power was out. link
