In the morning went to Victoria Park on the west side of Hong Kong Island, a huge park with football fields, tennis courts, roller skate rinks, foot massage paths, and lots of other cool stuff that a packed city like this place definitly needs. A famous taoist temple was next door do but the most interesting thing was the contrast between this squat old building and the towers surrounding it.

Walked around the shopping at Causeway Bay and and then got one of the old narrow double decker trams back to the city centre and Hong Kong park. Accidentally found a huge Aviary in the centre of the park that just proved I wasn't paying attention to the tourist brochures. The place was really cool. It was a chunk of forest - rain forest actually - enclosed under a huge net and with a raised wooden walkway that you wander down, all the while amazingly coloured birds flew past or just sat a couple of metres away nibbling on some fruit. And it was my favourite price - free!

I'd been hoping for just one day of clear weather, where the tops of the skyscrapers weren't obscured by cloud or haze and today was it. Just before dark I got the peak tram up the side of the mountain to Victoria Peak, where you're offered the best view of the city skyline. When the sun set the harbour lit up and the view was breathtaking. And freezing. I stood outside as long as I could but a t-shirt was no defense against the cold wind.
